Sex Matters
Take the Test. Take Control
It's that time of year again...time to get tested!

June 27th marks the 11th Annual National HIV Testing Day (NHTD). Organized by the National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA-US), its goal is to encourage at-risk individuals, like teens, to get voluntary HIV counseling and testing.

Why bother getting tested? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly one million people in the U.S. are living with HIV/AIDS. Not only that, but the CDC also estimates that roughly 1 in 4 of them don't even know that they're infected.

And if that doesn't hit home, how about the fact that people under the age of 25 make up half of all new HIV infections each year?

If this makes you want to get involved, NAPWA-US makes it easy. You can learn more about National HIV Testing Day and become involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS by checking out the NHTD Web site
. This site hooks you up with a campaign kit, which includes posters and flyers; a list of counseling and testing locations; fact sheets; and info about how to organize, promote, and carry out a successful NHTD event. Check it out...you may be able to help.

No matter what you do, be sure to get tested and protected. If you want to get tested, but don't know how or where, check out the NHTD testing location database
for a site near you.
