Guys' Health
Where can I go to get a medical exam?
Unlike girls, most guys dont go for regular medical checks of their sexual and reproductive organs, unless they have a problem or question. But, its a good idea for guys to see a doctor, get checked out and ask any questions they have. Most health departments and family planning clinics serve guys, too.
Outside of regular check-ups, problems that should prompt a trip to the doctor include genital rashes, discharges or unusual bumps or sores. Guys who have a lot of trouble getting or keeping an erection, or ejaculating, should see a doctor if it happens more than half the time.
Health departments and family planning clinics are usually low or no cost. Private doctors can be more expensive, unless a teen is able to use his parents insurance.
To find a clinic near you, call Planned Parenthood at 800-230-PLAN, visit their website at www.plannedparenthood.org or check in you phone book under "family planning."
